In between those people obviously are the "deniers", but also a lot of people who are knowledgable and understand the science, and thus the dangers of climate change. Many of them say she doesn't deserve the prize, because she is not a scientist or an engineer doing "real" work to solve the problem. Maybe you are failing to understand that Greta has become a public figure and that has given her power.
It is difficult to understand why society has not reacted in the face of such serious menace, if scientists know of this problem since hundred years ago and have been raising the alarm since at least half century ago... the reason behind the inaction is that scientists have failed communicating with a large part of society; in reality most people are not so reasonable as those who do research and understand the science, but still you need them to join the fight, without them we won't make it.
Most people respond more to empathy than knowledge, and that's why Greta Thunberg has become a valuable asset for those who care about current life in this world, and that's why she won this award and so many others.
This is not the time for divisions; it doesn't matter if you are a scientist, an engineer, a politician, a celebrity, an activist, or just a common folk who care for life in this world... This is the time to UNITE (althought some may say it is already too late).
